LATEST WORK
Here I like to share my ideas, and really appreciate constructive criticism and comments.
Almost everything I create is in response to the material I find. I begin with a branch, a few logs or prepared timber which I stow away, and examine from time to time until an idea or form occurs to me. Then I might need to search or wait until other parts of the design are found. Shapes and structures are determined by grain, colour and natural faults in the wood, it is a kind of exploration. I can’t be sure any piece will turn out the way I first expected it to. Nothing is copied or mass produced. Some of this work is personally commissioned and therefore not for sale. Other pieces become a favourite and remain in pride of place in my own collection, but may find another owner in time. I like to see work as love made visible. It may not be a particularly professional attitude, and I am sure I will never be a wealthy artist, but I intend to remain a contented one! |
